How to apply – Postal application process
1. How to Start a postal application
- Identify the correct service type before applying by visiting the below stated links & ensure you read all instructions.
- Fill the form online on the Government’s website
- Post completion of above two steps, you need to complete the online questionnaire using the correct consular type followed by Online profile creation process.
For Passport/Renunciation and GEP
For OCI, OCI in lieu of PIO and OCI Misc. services
- a. To send your application by Post : Click on “Create New application”
- link on the left menu. Creating an application involves following steps:
- Note: You need to complete the steps from I to IV for every single applicant.
- Visiting Country as “India”. This will be selected by default.
- Residing Country as “United States of America”. This will also be a default selection.
- Select Centre as per your consular jurisdiction. Note: sending your application to incorrect location may cause your application being returned unprocessed by deducting appropriate charges of ICAC.
- Select the appropriate application Category.
- By default, application category be selected as “Postal”
- Select payment mode as per your preference. Online payment mode is the most appropriate payment method.
- Click on “Add Customer blue button” to start filling the information.
- Fill all fields * and ensure you keep “Government application form number handy to complete the process”
- Post completion of all the fields, click on “Submit” to select “courier type”.
- Select “VFS offered courier service or you can select your own pre-paid labels. For easy tracking, we recommend you select the VFS offered courier service.
- You have also an option to select other VAS services at this stage by clicking on “Additional services” hyperlink.
- You can the click on continue to fill the courier information.
- Fill the correct courier address (if selected VFS offered courier service) or fill “Incoming and outgoing pre-paid labels. Note: Incorrect pre-paid labels may lead to delays in processing hence ensure correct information is updated.
- Validate the address, if you use “VFS offered courier service” to ensure system
- updates the correct information as per FedEx database
- Review the application summary before making the online payment (if opted)
- Accept on “terms and conditions”. checking this option confirms that you have read and understood the terms and conditions.
- Click on “Confirm application” to redirect to the payment gateway.
- Complete the online payment and redirect back to the application confirmation page.
- At this stage – you can download your payment receipt or confirmation letter and download the document checklist/ courier labels (if opted for VFS offered courier service)
- You can then use the incoming courier label to send your complete application along with payment receipt, return courier label or envelope and all required documents as per the checklist to the “Indian Consular application Centre” as per your consular jurisdiction.
- We recommend you to super scribe the envelope with name of the application -category such as “New OCI or Passport Re-issuance etc.
- Use one envelope to send one application. DON’T SEND MUTLIPLE APPLCIATIONS IN ONE ENVELOPES.
